Words Matter

I’m Tom Dwyer,

There are other quality automotive shops in Portland, but there’re lots of small differences that make Tom Dwyer Automotive Services stand out and one of these is as simple as the words we use.

Language matters, it shapes people and cultures and it helps define the way we think about things.

We refer to those who use our service as “clients” rather than “customers“, “Client” reflects our perception of the long term service relationship we work to develop with everyone that chooses us for help with their automotive needs.

There’s nothing wrong with having “Customers”; but the word may imply people that just buy things.

Word choice can tell you more about the one using the words than what the words may be trying to describe.

Think about that the next time a politician labels American workers or the unemployed as “freeloaders” or “slobs”, or some spin master pundit paints union members “bottom feeders”.

By phone at (five oh three, two three oh, twenty three hundred) or online at (tom dwyer dot com) we’re Tom Dwyer Automotive Services… trusted to keep your vehicles, safe, breakdown-free and operating at their best!
