I thought I’d call Gordon Smith’s office to offer my condolences on the loss of his Senate seat, but then I remembered he never listened any of the other times I called over the years to offer my opinions on important issues, so I guess I just need to say I’m sorry Mr. Smith, but I’m not sorry you’re gone.
Gordon Smith opposed Senator Wyden more than 1600 times on issues important to Oregonians, effectively cancelling out his votes. Now, let’s celebrate that for the first time since 1967 Oregon has two Democratic senators. Thank you, Ron Wyden, and welcome Jeff Merekely! In our Representative democracy our representatives need to know our concerns to represent us. Call them often and let them know your concerns about your country.
