Shop Talk for April 2025

This month’s Comment from Don S. is a compliment we couldn’t resist sharing…

“Walking thru your entrance door is akin to coming home where folks will be friendly and your hassles will be removed from your chore list.  A totally different feel than going to a dealer to be ripped off!”

Auto repair can be expensive and frustrating, and ‘chore’ is perhaps the politest adjective one could use for it.  We can’t make it nice but we try to make it better, and Comments like Don’s tell us we’re on the right track.  Our Service Advisors are real people giving real advice on real issues, not spouting some line of corporate sales smarm. Yes, they’re selling you stuff, but stuff you NEED to be safe, secure, and happy, and in a way you won’t have to worry about watching your back.  The difference, as Don says, is one you can feel.  Thanks Don!

Shouting out with XRAY.FM!

Pic from the Bridge of the Starship XRAY. The guy with the enormous head in front is Charles, the larger-than-life yet still normal-sized guy in the back is station director Chase Spross.

Friday the 18th was a great day for Tom Dwyer as we didn’t get a shout-out FROM XRAY.FM, we didn’t shout-out TO them, but we got to shout-out WITH them. Our Outreach Advisor Charles Letherwood got to sit in with Station Director Chase Spross to finish out their Spring Pledge drive.  It was both fun and important, because we got to hang out through our fave Thom Hartmann show and talk about the critical need for independent information in today’s world.  Hey, have you heard that most media in our society is biased, corrupt, and pointless?  Yep, and independent community sources like XRAY are the antidote.  They finished their Spring Pledge Drive successfully by raising $51,275 on their $50,000 goal so it’s too late to help them on that.  But it’s never too late to help!  Consider making a one-time donation, or better yet, becoming a member… support the real, independent, home-grown media we need!

And if you care about XRAY you may also care about their sister station across the river, Vancouver’s KXRW.  Disgusted by the fall of KPOJ and eager to see a replacement in her home of Vancouver, Susan Galaviz entered a world she had no experience in and worked with XRAY to build a new radio station from the ground up.  In 2015 KXRW, Vancouver’s only independent community radio station, went on the air.  10 years later, they’re strong and growing but still need the support of people who care about info that doesn’t spew from a corporate sludge pump.

We have a couple ongoing offers you might find valuable…

Carbon Neutral Program

Our company’s commitment to the environment led us to partner with Bonneville Environmental Foundation to create our Carbon Neutral Program in 2007. Client members offset the carbon production of their vehicles for one year AND save 10% on Labor Charges here at the shop! It’s a win for you AND our environment and it’s been very successful… since we instituted the program our members have prevented over 1.9 MILLION POUNDS of carbon from being dumped into our air!

Referral Reward Program

Year after year, referrals from our existing clients are our greatest source of new clients, so we’ve tried hard to think of some way to appropriately reward people for their referrals.  Our solution is  our Referral Reward Program, where we make donations to the non-profit group of your choice to say ‘thanks’ for your generous referralsHere’s how it works…

And just a couple other things to know…

Your reviews and referrals matter

We’re constantly grateful for the supportive and loyal clients we’ve developed over the years.  Your comments and appreciation keep us on the right road to providing the superior automotive service you deserve.  Your reviews and referrals are not only the highest compliments we can receive, but they’re the lifeblood of our new business.  If you like what you’ve found at Tom Dwyer Automotive Services, please tell a friend or write a review on Yelp, Google, or the review site of your choice. Thank you!

Latest Automotive Recalls

Automobiles are just like any other product; occasional flaws in manufacture or design can cause problems once they leave the factory.  When an issue is identified the manufacturers and government work hard to bring the vehicles back in for refit or repair, but not all recalls make the front pages.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration maintains a constantly updated list of recalls from every manufacturer.
