We’ve been proud sponsors of AM 620, Portland’s ONLY progressive talk radio station since 2005, and nothing has brought us more notice than our rather… outspoken radio commercials. Whether it’s giving advice on auto maintenance, promoting environmental causes, or calling for accountability for torturers, our ads aren’t what you might expect from any auto repair shop. Whether you’re a fan from way back or new to our unique advertising style, this is where you’ll find the most complete collection of our radio endeavors.
On-air mentions from the KPOJ team
We work on the cars of a lot of the KPOJ folks and, thankfully, they’re not shy when it comes to sharing their feelings about our shop! Here’s where you’ll find clips from some of their on-air mentions, and even a special video testimonial from Thom Hartmann himself.
Newest KPOJ spots
As soon as we leave the palatial KPOJ studios we put the results here. These are our five most recent radio spots, and they’ll be here even before they hit the air.
Our radio archive
From Tom’s first time on the air to the latest poke at our Corporate Overlords, if you’re looking for any of our radio spots they’re all on line here. Each spot has its own page with full text and audio, and many of the spots have video as well.
Now our KPOJ spots are ON VIDEO!
One of our clients, Hans Michael (known to his fans as EastBankThom), has been adding his own unique spin to our radio spots. Click here to check out these videos he made for his YouTube channel, and even a couple videos from our own stock.
Links from our KPOJ commercials
Our KPOJ radio spots have many mentions of information, organizations, offers, or other things you may be interested in. When you hear Tom say “click the link on our website”, this is what he’s talking about.
Write your own KPOJ spot
Is there an issue we’re not hitting hard enough? Please tell us! Click here and use the “Comments” section to drop us an email with your idea for our next radio spot. (Please put “Suggestion for a KPOJ Spot“ where it asks for the make and model of your car). Just a description of the content is probably enough, but if you want to try copy writing then here’s the rules for our spots:
- All spots are absolute maximum of 200 words, which must include the following:
- Introduction- “I’m Tom Dwyer…” (3 words)
- Body of spot- No more than 160 words, and 120-130 is better. Avoid Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can’t Say On Television“, because we can’t say them on the radio either.
- Closing- “By phone at (5 0 3– 2 3 0– 2 3 0 0) or online at (tom dwyer dot com) we’re Tom Dwyer Automotive Services… trusted to keep your vehicles, safe, breakdown-free and operating at their best!” (37 words, because each number counts as a word)
Sorry, but we can’t pay you for any spots, your work becomes our property, and you have no rights to it or anything we do with it. Also, it’s very unlikely that we’ll be able to use your spot verbatim, so we may take the core idea and run with it. But, either way, it’s a great way to blow off some steam! Have fun!
