State-of-the-art REAL ROBOTS
The scariest thing you’ll see this Halloween
It started simply enough. There was a story about robotics manufacturers signing an open letter pledging not to “weaponize their advanced mobility general purpose robots or the software that makes them function” and asked their customers to do the same. Since these little mechanical horrors can be weaponized with a shotgun and duct tape, the manufacturers’ arguably good intentions did nothing to reassure us. But you know how confirmation bias works… since we were worried about robots, every story we saw seemed to be about robots, and every story seemed to be scarier than the last. They roll, run, fly, dance, creep, blink, talk, and more, and no matter what you think the state-of-the-art is in robotics, you’ll find you’re wrong. We thought we’d give you something to be truly scared of this Halloween, so enjoy(?) this look at our future robotic overlords in print and video…
