(Including a goodbye to Heidi Tauber)
I’m Tom Dwyer,
Members of Congress swear an oath before taking office:
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”;
But what exactly are “domestic enemies”? Theoretically being “just like us”, they could be hard to spot. I believe Domestic enemies are defined in part by their actions and I’ve compiled this helpful list to clear things up. Domestic enemies….
Work against the general welfare
Place corporate interests before those of natural citizens
Spin facts to distort truth, or simply perpetuate outright lies
Corrupt the integrity of our vote
Work to weaken or disable government protections
Work against fair taxes and an equitably balanced budget
Put personal profit before country
Involve us in unnecessary wars
Condone torture and war crimes
Weaken our food and energy security
An oath should be more than just empty words parroted for power. What are the consequences when this oath is broken?
