Being far from the ideal human I try to be humble and leave the smallest possible wake behind me. I’m troubled by displays of arrogance; especially ignorant, hollow, stubborn arrogance. The next time you hear descriptions of America as “the greatest most powerful nation ever”, the world’s only “super power”, “ the largest most robust economy in the world” or extols of American Exceptionalism; stop and think about who really deserves credit; we inherited this great nation; few today can claim to have participated in making us great. My great grandparents and my grandparents were indeed alive and may have participated in creating the basis for some of these lasting beatitudes, but what did my parents or my generations do to solidify any basis for bragging about America?
